The Islands

The Islands

The Islands is a research project on parenthood, used as a metaphor to remind us that, while we sometimes feel isolated on the surface, we are always connected in the depths. Considering motherhood as the oldest and most natural form of work or state of being, the project highlights the strength of the collective feminine, which grows stronger in plurality.

Research, Visibility and Transformation
– Parenthood in the Arts Today –

A research and artistic creation project focused on parenthood in the contemporary Portuguese arts sector. Through the creation and analysis of data on this subject, and through conversations with a range of professionals working in the sector—whose outcomes and analysis will be shared in a Lecture-Performance—the project responds to the urgent need to create spaces for dialogue and action that enable us, collectively, to activate strategies of inclusion and care.
