FORA DA NORMA (Outside the Norm), with artistic direction Diana Niepce and coordination of Produção d’Fusão, appears in the continuity of the work developed with artists with disabilities and in the diversification of bodies in the cultural sector. It consists of training for two people per project, each with artistic residencies, which seeks to revolutionize the intersubjective vision of the non-normative body, through experimental artistic objects in the area of performing arts. It brings together artists with disabilities and professional creators in order to enhance the vision of authorial creative work. It includes a week of training (arts and disability theory, somatic practices, dance, theater, sound, light) with artists from different areas and four weeks of artistic residency with a public performance. Outside the Norm allows for an experimental encounter in which the questioning of the norm is proposed and at the same time the body outside the norm is demystified. A place where artists have access to new relationships with artistic creation.

I believe that the artist who challenges the norm evokes, through his simple presence, a unique place that takes me away from my own history. We are still looking for representation in the sector. We do not want to continue to be invalidated: figures of pity, represented under a standard, inferior humans in the performative world, tied to the norm that dictates efficiency and emphasizes the contrast of the norm from the outside of the norm. Here there is no exploration, there is experience and experimentalism, which should not be dissociated from the strength and voice that contributes to the change that the world needs to reformulate the ableist language implicit in the neoliberal model of the arts. Propagating wrong assumptions about the body outside the norm brings us closer to the concepts of victim art, observing a hero, the fallacy of inspiration. A new place is needed here.
