Rui Paixão
Rui Paixão graduated in theater from ACE in Porto (2011-2014). He engages in research and experimentation of new possibilities for the language of physical theater and contemporary circus, with a focus on artistic creation for public spaces. Notable among his creations is the Coliseu do Porto AGEAS Circus, where he assumed the artistic direction and staging of the 2022 show, “KINSKI – Roi de Rats.” It premiered at LES SUBS (Lyon) as part of the France-Portugal Season. Other works include “ALBANO” (2021) premiered at LEME, “HAMSTER CLOWN” (2021) co-created with Ricardo Neves-Neves, and his role as an original creator with Cirque du Soleil (2019/20) in China, where he lived for a year. He collaborated as an interpreter or co-creator with various artists, including Adam Read, Hugo Bélanger, Radar 360, Visões Úteis, Julieta Aurora dos Santos, John Romão, Miguel Moreira, Joana Providência, and David Alexandre. In 2023, he joined the cast of Marlene Monteiro Freitas’ show “Lulu,” a co-production of Wiener Festwochen and MusikTheater an der Wiencom. In the same year, he returned to Cirque du Soleil in Orlando to be part of the production “Drawn to Life.” In 2024, he will begin his new artistic creation, “FURO LENTO.”
